Building a Child Safe Environment at Elder Street Early Childhood Centre

Elder Street Early Childhood Centre has an agreed commitment to child safety that has been decided by our children, families and staff and composed into a Statement of Commitment to Child Safety. We have an overarching Child Safe Policy that is supported by many other policies to ensure all adults working at Elder Street ECHC know what is expected of them when working with children. Our leadership team have formulated a culture of child safety that forms our 5 Pillars of Child Safe Culture. This document clearly shows how we work together as a team to ensure child safety in our teaching and interactions. Finally, we have a Child Safe Code of Conduct that provides explicit opportunity for all adults to acknowledge what they will and will not do in the name of child safety.

The flow chart demonstrates how we approach child safety at Elder St ECHC. The important documents that make up this organisational approach are as follows:

· STATEMENT OF COMMITMENT TO CHILD SAFETY

· CHILD SAFE POLICY

· 5 PILLARS OF CHILD SAFE CULTURE

· CHILD SAFE CODE OF CONDUCT

· RESPONSE TO THE CHILD SAFE STANDARDS POLICY

· PROVIDING A CHILD SAFE ENVIRONMENT POLICY

Within these policies are many supporting policies, some of which can be found on our policy tab.
